Donor Profiles

A variety of actors are involved in financing global mental health - from philanthropic, bilateral to multilateral donors. Here we investigate bilateral donors to global mental health.

For the purposes of the donor profiles, development assistance to mental health (DAMH) is defined as aid spent on projects whose primary purpose was promoting mental health or preventing or treating mental and substance-use disorders (Gilbert B.J. et al 2015). We use data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) to measure DAMH.

Unless otherwise noted, Official Development Assistance (ODA) data originates from OECD’s Development Co-operation Profiles.
