“I am a youth ambassador for the Community Health Assessment Team (CHAT), a youth mental health outreach and assessment programme initiated under the auspices of the Ministry of Health Singapore in 2009. CHAT was inspired by the strong youths’ voice in the 2nd IAYMH Conference, and thus established its youth ambassador programme in 2014. Youths were no longer just service recipients but service creators and givers. I was immensely grateful when CHAT invited me and another youth to co-facilitate a pre-conference workshop at IAYMH 2017 where I shared my insights on future-proofing youth mental health service to mental health practitioners. IAYMH’s bursary covered my conference ticket and accommodation. Another life changing experience was when IMAYH invited me to co-facilitate a plenary session and be a panellist on the topic of inclusion. It was the first time a youth from Singapore had stepped on the IAYMH international stage, and I was proud to be doing that as an ambassador for the organisation that encouraged me to start my recovery journey. I was able to bring back the learning to share with my fellow ambassadors. My heartfelt thanks for CHAT’s confidence in me and IAYMH’s support to be a part of this crucial event!”

The International Association for Youth Mental Health (IAYMH) is a membership-based organisation for professionals, researchers, organisations, policy makers, young people and their families.
The IAYMH’s mission is to change the way the global community thinks about young people and their mental health.
Every two years, the IAYMH hosts an international conference in a different global city. Unlike traditional medical research conferences, the IAYMH event is planned and delivered in partnership with young people.
