Overview
Countdown GMH 2030 is a global monitoring platform that draws upon a range of factors and indicators, from economic performance to attitudes to mental healthcare, to measure the current state of global mental health.
It is a collaboration between Global Mental Health @Harvard, the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, the Global Mental Health Peer Network (GMHPN) and United for Global Mental Health (UnitedGMH).
It has been developed to inform action: action to campaign, to advocate, to communicate and to change policy and practice so that everyone everywhere is able to exercise their right to the highest attainable level of mental health.
The Monitoring report
The second Countdown GMH 2030 monitoring report is available here. The report presents an indicator set of 48 indicators drawn from 15 sources.
It explains how these indicators have been organised in a framework composed of four pillars: determinants of mental health, factors shaping the demand (and need) for mental health care, factors shaping the strength of the mental health system, and wellbeing.
It shows how the data can be used to examine what the situation is at country level in order to inform advocacy and drive change.
The Data
Countdown GMH 2030’s interactive dashboard allows users to access and download the data by country and/or indicator, view country comparisons via a series of heatmaps and identify data gaps. It reflects a holistic view of the state of mental health, taking into account the whole socioeconomic situation on the ground.
Three themes that provide the basis for the data include:
- What factors affect mental health globally?
- What factors are shaping the need and demand for mental healthcare and where?
- How strong is the mental health system, and what factors affect its strength and effectiveness?
The Dashboard
Countdown GMH 2030’s free and interactive dashboard lets users search mental health data by country and by indicator, view country comparisons via a series of heatmaps, create their own tables and download the data.
This dashboard utilises 48 indicators and shows whether a country is doing well or less well in comparison to other countries using heat maps. Hover over a country to see the value legend. Data points that are more than 10 years old are flagged with the ! symbol.
Comparing Countries: Indicator Table
This table is navigable by all indicators included and shows the value of each indicator by country. It is searchable by country and by indicator. You may create and download your own tables, and hover over a cell to get further information on the indicator.
Comparing Countries: Missing Data
This shows how many indicators are missing data for each country. Hover over a bar for more information.
