Looking Ahead to AIDS 2026: The Mental Health Networking Zone Returns

As the global HIV community prepares to gather in Rio de Janeiro for AIDS 2026 on 27 July, we’re excited to announce the return of the Mental Health Networking Zone, now in its second year as a dedicated space within the Global Village for advancing conversations at the intersection of mental health, HIV and TB.

Under the theme “Rethink Care. Rebuild Trust. Rise Together.”, this year’s Networking Zone reflects a growing global recognition that mental health should not be an optional add-on to HIV and TB responses; it is fundamental to achieving equitable, person-centred care and better health outcomes.

Across four days, the Networking Zone will host a diverse programme of interactive sessions, community dialogues, country showcases and storytelling featuring more than 20 partner organisations from around the world. Together, they will explore topics ranging from integrated HIV and mental health services and financing, to maternal mental health, youth leadership, stigma reduction, community-led innovation and health systems strengthening.

The return of the Mental Health Networking Zone reflects a growing momentum across the HIV movement to place mental health where it belongs — at the heart of the response. More importantly, it provides a platform for communities, governments, researchers, funders and advocates to learn from one another and translate evidence into action.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Global Fund for its continued support and to the International AIDS Society (IAS) for once again providing a home for these conversations within the Global Village.
