Wellcome Trust & United for Global Mental Health
Our Partnership with the Wellcome Trust
United for Global Mental Health works with the Wellcome Trust to elevate the connection between climate change, the environment, and mental health, an urgent and growing global concern. Our collaboration focuses on building political momentum and public awareness of how climate-related challenges, from extreme weather events to displacement, impact mental wellbeing, especially for vulnerable communities.
We advocate for better integration of mental health considerations into climate policies, more visibility for mental health at global climate moments such as COPs and greater investment in climate and health financing. Together with Wellcome, we are helping to drive system-wide change that centres mental health in climate and environmental policy and action.
Areas of Focus for Their Donation
The Wellcome Trust support is critical for us to generate and share robust data and evidence to raise awareness of how climate and environmental degradation affect mental health, especially among key decision-makers. We advocate for mental health to be fully integrated into national and global climate responses, including policies on adaptation, mitigation, and loss and damage. And we are pushing for mental health to be considered in Government climate and environmental financing strategies, ensuring long-term, sustainable support for affected communities. Together, we are shaping a future where climate action also safeguards mental wellbeing.
