Grand Challenges Canada & United for Global Mental Health

Why Grand Challenges Canada is partnering with United for Global Mental Health

United for Global Mental Health partners with Grand Challenges Canada on the Being Initiative to improve and transform the youth mental health ecosystem in low- and middle-income countries. Together, we combine innovation and advocacy to support locally and youth driven solutions that not only improve services for young people but also positively influence the social systems around them. From community-based care to national policy and global change, our collaboration ensures that youth mental health is prioritised, adequately funded, sustainably addressed and youth self advocate at every level.

Areas of Focus for Their Donation

United for Global Mental Health plays a vital advocacy role within the Being Initiative, helping to transform the youth mental health ecosystem for the long term. We offer technical support for national and global advocacy to national youth mental health organisations. Our  work ensures youth mental health is a global and national priority, mobilising political will, influencing funding decisions, youth advocates participate in change making, and supporting system level change so that innovations funded by Being can thrive and scale. By connecting local solutions to global platforms and elevating the voices of young people with lived experience, we help build a stronger, accessible and more responsive mental health landscape that meets the needs of young people everywhere.
